Understand the working context

Begin with an untouched copy of the source and a small working sample. Identify required columns and decide how customer relationships will be represented. Spreadsheet tools may change identifiers or dates when opening a file, so check important values after saving it. An import preview is an opportunity to understand rejected rows and mapping problems before committing a larger batch. Keep a record of the source and the decisions made during preparation.

Put it into practice

  • Use clear column headings and one record per row.
  • Check identifiers, email fields and date formats.
  • Include the fields that connect contacts to their accounts.
  • Review the staging results before committing supported records.

A practical example

An account file contains company names and source IDs. A contact file references those account IDs. The administrator imports a sample and checks that each contact appears under the intended account. If the relationship is wrong, the source or mapping is corrected before more rows are submitted.

HOW THIS RELATES TO ATLAS

In the current workspace

Atlas supports bounded Account/Contact CSV staging and commit flows. Imports for every object, file or historical activity are not currently available.
