Understand the working context

A conversion may create or connect an account, contact and opportunity. Those records serve different purposes: the organisation, the person and the potential sale. Before converting, check the details you want to preserve and whether a suitable customer already exists. A clear conversion process helps the team avoid treating the converted lead and the active opportunity as unrelated work. The exact behaviour depends on the CRM and the supported conversion options.

Put it into practice

  • Review the organisation, person and opportunity details.
  • Check the destination account and any existing relationship.
  • Confirm the person who will own the ongoing sales work.
  • Review the resulting records before continuing with a quotation.

A practical example

A qualified enquiry for a service package becomes a customer account, a contact and an opportunity for the proposed engagement. The salesperson checks that the contact sits under the right account, then adds the next task to the opportunity. The original enquiry provides context while ongoing work moves to the new records.

HOW THIS RELATES TO ATLAS

In the current workspace

Atlas provides a supported lead-conversion flow with safeguards against repeated conversion. Custom mapping rules and general duplicate merging are not part of the current release.
